Moving Right Along
Winterberry our irrigation contractor has been working quickly on the mainline getting a head start on the project, and getting as much pipe in as possible before we get any real winter weather. They began to dig in the mainline by 15 green and have been working back toward the tee. This pipe is 6in and will feed everything on 14 and 15.
As they move along each fairway, green and tee complex will be able to be isolated with a valve. These valves allow us to shut off the water to a small portion of the hole in order to make any needed repairs in the future.
Below is the finished product when they are finished backfilling and cleaning up the area. So far, it has been fairly dry for them to work, as we get some of our winter rains and snow, there will be some areas in the rough where they will be forced to make a bigger mess. That is to be expected when we are trying to install this much pipe through the winter. We will address those areas when the issue arises and will seed or sod them in late winter, when the contractor is finished with the area.
As they work their way around the golf course, they do have to cut across cart paths in a variety of locations to get the pipe where it needs to go. The cuts in the path will be temporarily filled with gravel until they get enough areas to bring in a concrete truck to repair all the paths permanently.
