Hopefully everyone knows at this point that we are about to take on a major golf course renovation project. Including 6 new greens, 2 new holes, a new driving range, and a new state of the art irrigation system. But some of you may not know how we got to this point.
The golf course project started a few years ago with our Architect Brian Huntly stopping in to discuss our bunkers, in passing the conversation started about our driving range and how inadequate it was for our membership. Brian took that feedback and brought back plans on how to get a larger driving range. After comments from the board and committees the final plans were approved.
As a part of that conversation the aging irrigation system came up. Our current system was installed in 1998 and is in desperate need of replacement. We have been fighting leaking heads and pipes for years.
We contacted Tony Altum, with Altum and Associates to look at our current needs and design a system that will work for us. After multiple designs and redesigns we finalized the design with 1065 heads.
After all of the plans were finalized, the project went out to bid. After the bid process, we selected Aspen Corporation to be our contractor for the Irrigation installation and the golf course construction. This company is a nationwide company that has completed many very high-profile projects and we are very confident that they will give us amazing results.
As I’m sure you have seen the storage containers in the parking lot. These containers are used for the storage of the irrigation supplies. Our contractor will begin to dig in the main irrigation line around the course this winter, once the pipe arrives. Unfortunately, the parking lot is the only area we have to stockpile supplies so please bear with us as more and more supplies begin to arrive.
As we begin this process, we will post continual updates to keep everyone informed of the progress.
